When a person passes away, digital mail from connected senders is stopped and redirected as physical mail instead.
If you, as a representative of the deceased's estate, require access to their Kivra mailbox or wish to close the account, we can share the contents of the mailbox with you. To facilitate this, you must have an active Kivra account of your own.
How to gain access to the mailbox:
To gain access to the deceased’s Kivra mailbox, you must submit documentation verifying your right to represent the estate. You can submit these documents via our contact form.
Approved documentation includes:
- Death certificate with a family report (Dödsfallsintyg med släktutredning) from the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket).
- Estate inventory (Bouppteckning) clearly identifying the parties of the estate.
- A will (Testamente) or a formal court decision from the District Court.
- If the estate consists of multiple beneficiaries, a power of attorney (fullmakt) signed by the other representatives is also required.
Please note: Kivra reserves the right to close the account and delete the contents of the deceased’s mailbox 12 months after the date of death.
